Do you believe in an "End of the World" prophesy or conspiracy telling?

Do you think that this world will end in your lifetime or that some major calamity will wipe out our existence or a major part of it? Do you think there are terrible times ahead with much suffering and hurt? If so, to what source do you give validity for this belief? What makes you think that the world is doomed? What makes you think that it is not doomed, if you believe that? What makes you so sure of your beliefs? How can it be healthy for someone trying to build a family, go to school, buy a house, build a life, to have beliefs of a world that will end in horrible ways? Why do we seem to think that God has some for creating children or mankind or whatever and then causing them to suffer? Why do we default to a belief in terrible things? Thank you for not quoting the much- altered, no longer accurate book known as the Bible.
