If you had the oppritunity to do IB...?

i am starting high school next year and the high school that i am going to is know for being really good as well as super hard. they have the IB (international baccalaurate) program for 11th and 12th graders, and i am debating whether or not i should do it. right now i am signed up for all honors cles next year and i am going to do every single AP cl possible and grit my teeth and bare it so that i can hopefully get into a good college (northwestern, unc, or duke). but i have heard from different people that colleges would rather see that if you had the oppritunity to do the ib program, you should do it even if you dont do well as long as you take that oppritunity. so my question basically is, will these colleges turn me down if i didnt do the ib program even though i had the oppritunity to? or will they look at my gpa and grades in the AP cles and determine my acceptance on that? thank you so much for answering, i know i have a while to decide but i want to make up my mind so that i can get prepared for the loadssss of work :].
