The Great Chicago Fire or The Great Fire of London would be two excellent topics. In the Chicago fire (1800s) it burned about 1/3 of the city and completely destroyed the financial district. The city was in the middle of a drought and the fire started on a farm. In the Great Fire of London (1660s), the city was in a severe drought and the fire destroyed all the slum areas and all of the parts of the old Roman sector.
