Does anybody know of any programs to help stretch the dollar?

specifically pertaining to infants and children[besides wic].have been asked to possibly take custody of friends infant due to severe personal problems.hubby willing to do it if we can find the resources and find ways to stretch our money.financially our own family is doing ok.
