98% compatible...? LOL most couples would not even be 70% compatible. It seems to me that your bf is not nervous about becoming committed to you and so is looking for ways to slow things down while he works out just what he wants. Guys are often like that , they want to have a gf but then don't want to be tied down or lose control of their lives so they wriggle around looking for some way of having the girl available but without being committed to her. All you can do is give him space do not become clingy and see what happens.
